It gets clearer and clearer to me that most often than not, it is mental blocks that stand in the way of ourselves and our goals and dreams.
I truly believe that we can with our awareness, with work on ourselves, with mindset shifts, and maybe even with manifestation (if you believe in that) change our current reality and achieve our goals.
I’m going to go through some mental blocks that can stand in the way of success. Keep reading if this interests you and you wanna learn more! Another post will be coming in the future about what you can do to overcome mental blocks.
Everything begins from the mind, including change. So, if you want to alter your life, you have to start with your mindset.Alexi Weaver
1. Feelings of unworthiness and not having confidence
It’s very easy when you’re new in the online space to feel like you might not be worthy to be among all other amazing digital entrepreneurs. Feelings of unworthiness are not beneficial for you or your business.
Having these feelings can stop you from taking action and you will get nowhere. Not having confidence and feeling unworthy go hand in hand. Feelings of unworthiness make it kinda hard to be confident in what you have to do and how you show up in your business.
2. Imposter syndrome
Imposter syndrome ties in with unworthiness because you might feel like you don’t know enough in your niche or you doubt if you can truly help someone or deliver. In some way you might feel like you’re gonna have to “fake it” because you don’t feel legit. All those thoughts and feelings are common. And they’re untrue.
It’s common to fear outside judgement from friends and family when it comes to your new business or new career path. We have to remember that this judgement is not really as bad as we make it out to be. What will actually happen if we get some judgement?
Nothing horrible will happen.
Comparison can make you feel imposter syndrome. You might see all other service providers, coaches, or creators accomplishing all these big things or collaborating with great people in the industry. We are doing ourselves a disservice by comparing ourselves to someone that has been working longer than us.
Mental blocks are tough and perfectionism is a tough one for me. I have to tell myself all the time to stop trying to make things as perfect as I want them to be before they’re released to the public.
The truth is, you are your hardest critic. Also, trying to perfect is going to make everything that you create or produce take longer. And that is not great for an entrepreneur because it already takes time to grow a business.
In some sense, it can be good to create something really great and to your perfection. But in business, when starting out, it might not be the best strategy and it can stand in your way.
4. Not being motivated and being inconsistent
Starting your own online business is a challenge and can easily make you lose motivation if you don’t get the results you want to see. Losing motivation could cause you to become inconsistent in putting up content or showing up. Being consistent is key in having a successful online business.
It’s easy to lose motivation when you know that you only have yourself to be accountable for. You are your own boss and sometimes that is not helpful. You will lose your job if you don’t do the work required of you. Not putting in the work in your business will result in it not going anywhere.
5. Relationship to money
You might be surprised to know that your relationship with money could possibly be in the way of you making a lot of it. The mindset or relationship you have with money comes from your parents or the people you grew up with.
There could be generational trauma to money that can hold you back from making money. The mindset blocks about money could even be cultural or based on gender.
This can come in the way when it comes to investing in yourself and in your business. It can come in the way of growing your business because you don’t identify yourself as being a wealthy person.
6. Self-sabotage and procrastination
Self-sabotage is something I believe we do unconsciously. Procrastination is a form of self-sabotage. There is something that is stopping you from doing tasks that will help you grow or your business to grow.
Nobody else is stopping you. Just you. And most often we are unaware. I know I had to take some time and think about what I am putting off doing. What is distracting me? Where is my focus instead? It might be on something that will not help me grow.
Micromanaging can also be self-sabotaging. In this case, you might have a hard time letting go. Letting go to let someone else do the work so you can focus on more important things. In business, it’s not possible to control everything so this is a mental block to consider.
Worry is another one. We all know that worrying doesn’t change what is and what will happen. Yet, we do it. This can affect your mental well-being and even your health.
7. Not getting in a creative mindset
When your creativity is flowing it is great. But creativity won’t always come to you when you want it or need it.
At times, the reason is because your brain has a hard time doing logical tasks and then moving on to creative ones because they use different parts of the brain. Other times, there might be some mindset blocks in the way of your creativity.
I have written a blog post with many ways on how to put yourself in a creative mindset, if you’re interested.
Mindset is something that we constantly have to work on. We don’t just “fix” whatever block is in the way of our success and us achieving our business goals. The mental blocks we move are ones we constantly have to work on. As I mentioned earlier, I will be writing a future post about how to overcome mental blocks.
I hope this helps you on your way to your blissful business!
